Anamad is a start-up company that will develop laboratory technologies into useful products, we are two Scientists;
Prof Sergey Mikhalovsky, PhD in Chemistry, was the originator and head of the University of Brighton Biomaterials and Medical Devices research group for more than 10 years. He has outstanding experience in managing large national and international research projects, mainly in the area of biomaterials and medical devices, with total funding in excess of £10 mln. Through these projects his team has developed novel porous materials for multiple applications.
Dr. Matthew Illsley, PhD in biomaterials and stem cell biology, has nearly 20 years research experience, a Marie Curie Research Fellow, he has worked on projects funded by the BBSRC, DTi, TSB, Innovate, Ministry of Defence, RAEng, Interreg 2seas and EU FP6 & 7. In the main these projects have focused on the development of new polymeric and composite materials, and transferring these technologies to industry. Responsible for the direction, design and execution of the experimental work he has used his expertise to design and small scale manufacture of many materials for wound dressings, skin regeneration scaffolds as well as environmental applications. Prior to starting his academic career he gained extensive experience working in the clinical and industrial environments. Dr Illsley also has experience working for UKRI as a Programme Manager, managing the flagship research fund for the NC3Rs.
In combination the pair have extensive knowledge in the development, testing and characterisation of; cryogelation and crosslinking mechanisms, biomaterials, nanoparticles, high flow rate materials, water treatment, and environmental remediation.
We are based on the University of Sussex campus, our address is; Sussex Innovation Centre, Science Park Square, Brighton, BN1 9SB
